Improvement of the ecological status of Lake Csaj by the Kiskunság National Park Directorate

app.kba-coverage.contributions.title 95.9%

The objective of the project is the infrastructural development of Lake Csaj, which is part of the HUKN10007 Alsó-Tisza-Völgy Special Special Protection Area and the HUKN20019 Baksi-puszta Special Area of Conservation, thereby improving the habitat quality and future prospects of the breeding, migrating and wintering populations of bird species of community interest, as well as other Natura 2000 trigger animal species. The area is also part of the Pusztaszer Ramsar Site. The planned interventions will improve the habitat quality and future prospects of breeding and migratory bird species of community interest (43 species) and Natura 2000 trigger animal species (5 species). The wetland thus being renewed is organically connected to the north-south chain of alkaline lakes that accompany the Tisza valley, a bird migration route of international importance. In addition to providing a safe breeding site for 30 bird species of community interest, the development also provides a stable resting and feeding area for the tens of thousands of ducks and geese that choose the Tisza valley as their migration route.
