The southwest Atlantic Ocean is known for its super-abundance of wildlife. The huge populations of birds and mammals that breed on the coast of Patagonia in Argentina and on islands of the southwest Atlantic depend on the ocean's health for their survival. WCS's long standing history of conservation research and action on the coast of Patagonia has enabled protecting the spectacular colonies of these species onshore and its Marine and Coastal Program is identifying key wildlife areas in the Southwest Atlantic that require effective and integrated management of the ocean.
