New Water Rights in Basin Management – Inclusivity of Spate Irrigated Areas of Pakistan
This project promotes sustainable water management and ecosystem restoration in Bhag Nari and surrounding villages, Balochistan. By rehabilitating irrigation channels, constructing offtake structures, and desilting watercourses, the initiative restores natural water flows and improves soil fertility. Through equitable distribution of water rights across eight villages, the project ensures sustainable use of shared water resources, benefitting agricultural biodiversity and rural livelihoods. Agricultural trials with improved seeds (Mung Bean, Sorghum, Gowar) and micronutrient spraying increased yields by 15–25%, contributing to climate-resilient farming and agrobiodiversity. Community engagement, training, and participatory planning strengthen local stewardship of natural resources, ensuring long-term impact on ecosystem restoration, biodiversity, and climate adaptation.
